Strength and Success Go Hand in Hand - Even for Artists

You might not initially associate strength with being an artist, as these seem like two different worlds. However, from my experience, finding success as an artist not only requires strength but is also the foundation for success in every aspect of life, including your career and personal endeavors.

The quote "only the strong survive" is particularly relevant here. Success as an artist boils down to two main factors: 1) the ability to continually produce art, and 2) the ability to effectively sell it. Most artists concentrate heavily on creating their work but spend little to no time developing their marketing and sales skills.

Having worked with hundreds of artists over the years, I’ve observed that most avoid marketing and sales due to fear and anxiety, which often stems from a lack of confidence. Therefore, why aren't we focusing on building up that confidence? When we lack artistic skills what do we do?  We take action through workshops, seminars or research. Confidence must be nurtured similarly.  Remember confidence comes from strength. If you believe you are stronger than the simple problems of this world, you will overcome failures more easily.

In the early stages of my career, I faced numerous challenges daily. Building strength was my lifeline, and implementing some small changes significantly improved my life and business.

Four Ways to Build Confidence and Strength:

  1. Strengthen the Body and Mind Will Follow:  Find a physical activity that works for you. For me, it's weight training; for you, it might be exercise, walking, running, or swimming. Try to train first thing in the morning for 30 minutes a few times a week. You’ll feel energized and accomplished, which helps you overcome mental blocks and anxiety, making you feel bigger than your problems.
  2. Tackle Small and Big Tasks:  Create a list of easier tasks and mix in some harder ones. I use a notebook to keep track of my tasks. By achieving a few wins each day, you'll feel more capable and won't fear taking on bigger challenges.
  3. Work on Your Mental Perception Daily:  Are you sabotaging yourself by thinking something isn’t possible? Write it down. Often, just seeing how ridiculous our self-talk is can be helpful. I've missed opportunities because I didn’t take action until my wife encouraged me. Because of her advice, I’ve sold several five-figure paintings. Remember, the reason most people don’t succeed is that they don’t take action.
  4. Spend Ten Minutes Daily on Self-Improvement:  Just as we shower and brush our teeth daily, we should spend ten minutes working on our inner dialogue. Find something inspiring on YouTube—it’s free! Meditate, pray, or do something that builds a better and stronger you. When combined with physical training and taking action, you'll see your potential increase and your confidence soar, enabling you to take on more than you ever realized.

I hope this article helps you and brings you great success.
